What we collect, and what we do with it.
Minted Students is a student project at the University of Queensland. Right now the only thing on this site that collects anything is the waitlist form, and this page describes all of it.
What we collect
Your email address, because there is no way to tell you we have opened without it. Your first name, only if you type one — the field is optional and leaving it blank changes nothing. If you joined as a business, the business name and website you gave us. We also record which role you picked and which part of the page you signed up from, so we know how many students and how many businesses are waiting.
That is the complete list. We do not collect your student number, your course, your location, or anything about your finances. There is no analytics on this site, no tracking pixel, no advertising network and no third-party script — the page loads nothing from anyone but us.
Why we collect it
To email you once, when Minted Students opens at St Lucia, and to know roughly how many people are waiting. We do not have any other plan for it, and we will not start one without telling you first.
Where it is stored
In a Supabase database, which runs on Amazon Web Services. Supabase is our processor and does not use your details for anything of its own. Depending on the region the project sits in, that may mean your details are stored outside Australia; we treat that as an overseas disclosure under APP 8 and it is one of the reasons the list of what we collect is as short as it is.
Who else sees it
Nobody. We do not sell it, rent it, trade it, or hand it to advertisers, and we are not going to. The only people who can read the list are the people building this project. We would disclose something only if the law actually required it, and we are not aware of any circumstance where that has happened.
Getting it back, or getting rid of it
Email abhiramktx@gmail.com and ask. You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it entirely, and you do not have to give a reason. We will do it and write back to say it is done. If you are not happy with how we handled it you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Emails we send
The plan is one email, when we open. We have not built a mailing system yet, so there is no unsubscribe link to give you — until there is one, asking at the address above is how you come off the list, and that is why this page says so rather than printing a promise we cannot keep today. Once we do send mail, every message will carry a working unsubscribe.
Changes
If this changes we will update this page. If it changes in a way that affects what we do with details you have already given us, we will email you about it before it takes effect.
